📍 Before you leave: what to know about Kédougou
Located at approximately 700 km from Dakar in south-eastern Senegal, Kédougou is the least populated region of the country... and probably the most beautiful. It is bordered by Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, crossed by the Gambia River, and is home to landscapes of rare diversity: dense forests, savannahs, cliffs, waterfalls and wooded hills.
🚌 How to join Kédougou from Dakar?
There are no scheduled commercial flights to Kédougou: the trip takes place by road only. Count between 10 and 12 hours from Dakar. The main options are:

🌊 Day 1 – Dindéfelo, Dandé mountain and night in Bandafassi
🌅 Early morning: breakfast and preparations
The program for this first day is busy – you have to get ready in the morning. Take one Good breakfast before going through the supermarket to fill up snacks, water and everything that will give you energy for the day. Must leave before 9:30 a.m. : direction Dindéfelo, about 36 km from Kédougou, less than an hour drive in 4×4.
🧗 Morning : climbed to the mountain of Dandé
When you arrive in Dindéfelo, you don't start with the waterfall – you go up first on the mountain Dandé. This climb offers an exceptional panorama of the valley and the cliffs of Fouta-Djalon. On the programme of this climb:
- 🏘️ The village tour Dandé, perched on the heights, with its traditional squares
- The Dandé's teeth, spectacular rock formations that dominate the landscape
- 🕳️ The cave Dandé, a natural cavity dug into the cliff, full of history and mystery
💦 Midday: the Dindéfelo waterfall
After the descent, place to the well deserved reward: the Dindéfelo waterfall. High 100 to 115 metresIt is the most impressive in Senegal. A trail marked through the community nature reserve (20 to 30 minutes walk in lush vegetation) leads you there. Dive into the natural basin at the foot of the waterfall: fresh water after the climb on Dandé, it is simply unforgettable. 👉 To go further, discover the other waterfalls of Kédougou such as the falls of Ségou, inguili or Kunsi, which you can integrate into a longer stay.
🌙 Evening: night in the village of Bandafassi
At the end of the day, heading for Bandafassi, a community village in the Bédik area, about 29 kilometres from Dindefelo and 16 kilometres from Kédougou. This is where you will spend your first night – in the village itself, as close to the inhabitants. An authentic immersion that sets the perfect setting for the next day's cultural day.

🏡 Day 2 – Villages Bédik d'Ibel, Iwol and Andjel, back in Kédougou
You are already sleeping in Bandafassi, so you are at the heart of the Countryclassified in UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2012. This second day is entirely dedicated to culture, panoramas and hiking.
🥾 Day: Ibel, Iwol and Andjel – full of culture and views
Go in the morning to visit the three must-see villages of Country Bédik. The villages of Ibel, Iwol and Andjel are perched on the heights and accessible after a hike of about 1h30, with spectacular panoramas of the surrounding valleys. Accompanied by your local guide, you will discover:
